Laurence Jay Mateo, also known as Jay Mateo, was born on November 04, 1990 at De La Salle University Medical Center in City of Dasmariñas, Cavite. Jay grew up in Dasmariñas but he spent some of his childhood life in Nueva Ecija. He stayed in Nueva Ecija for two years to accompanied his grandmother when his grandfather died. He is the third, the youngest, and the only boy child of Mr. and Mrs. Mateo. He has two siblings, both girls.

Jay took his kindergarten at PILGRIMS ACADEMY in Dasmariñas Cavite. He graduated as the Salutatorian of his batch. After kindergarten, he spent his elementary days at Francisco Enano Barzaga Memorial School. But he stayed there for only five years. From first grade up to the fifth grade, Jay maintained to be on the top 5 of his class. Nevertheless, he maintained to be the model student of his class from third grade up to the fifth grade. However, after his fifth grade, he transferred at Guimba West Central School in Guimba Nueva Ecija. He graduated as the fourth honorable mention of his batch.

Jay had his first year high school at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Academy at Guimba, Nueva Ecija. Aftewards, he continued his high school days at Congressional National High School in Dasmariñas Cavite. He graduated as the top three of his class. Prior to this, he has been involved in many extra curricular activities like dance troupe, organizations, class officers, and varsity of his school. He became somehow popular because of varsity and being one of the officers in CAT. He has been the mentor of the amateur varsitarians as well as of the cadettes. He even became the Mr. Senior (JS PROM) of his batch.

After high school, Jay and his family decided to take his college at Central Luzon State University in Nueva Ecija. He took up Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Marketing Management. During his college life, a lot of things happened unexpectedly. He has a colourful college life. He became the class president of his class for two semestres. He became member of the dance troupe of his college known as the Corporate Dance Troupe. Before that, Jay and his group (together with his two professor), joined the Dance Competition in Lantern Parade and has been the champion for two consecutive years. To add up, Jay and his group in his dormitory declared as the champions in the dance troupe for the dormitory. In line with this, he has been chosen to be one of the back up dancers of Rachelle Ann Go during her concert in their University. Jay is a member of the Volleyball team of his college and of his university. He is a varsity member since first year college. He became the team captain and student coach of his team (college team) for three consecutive years. His team were the champions for four consecutive years. He became the team captain of the university team for two consecutive years. During mini-intramurals and university intramurals, Jay is one of the committees and facilitators. But then, even he has been committed to a lot of things, Jay maintained to get better grades. In fact, he never had failing grades. He graduated as one of the students who had a highest GPA.

After he graduated in college last April 2011, he went back to Dasmariñas and rest for a couple of months. But his university kept in touch with him. He was asked to facilitate the intramurals (of course with pay.. haha). He even asked by his coach to assist the university team. After a couple of months, Jay decided to seek for a job. Now, he is working at Accenture, Makati, as Cash Applications Analyst (Accounting Associate/Financial Analyst).
